2014 Metropolitan Women’s Retreat
February 7-9, Kearneysville, WV (Register by January 29!)
Join us for our 4th Women’s Retreat! Our theme this year is Celtic Spirituality, where we will learn new ways to pray, deepen our faith and strengthen our community of women. If you’ve never attended one of our retreats, we encourage you to give it a try. The weekend offers a time to reflect and unwind and to get to know the other women in our three congregations. You need not be a member of the United Methodist Women or be pious nor certain of your beliefs. You need only to be female and curious about God. Download the registration form here. For more information, contact Suzanne Vieth.
Our annual UMW Bazaar is one of the most anticipated events of the year at Metropolitan. Learn more.
Join the United Methodist Women for their annual Craft Day. Get your craft on and bead, knit, sew, découpage, glue, etc. Brush up on an old pastime or try something new – no experience required. You can donate your creation to be sold at the November bazaar, or take it with you. For Questions or to find out when the next Craft Day is occuring contact, Mary Townsend or Suzanne Vieth.
Great Day of Service
Each Spring, the United Methodist Women of Metropolitan Memorial sponsor a church-wide service day that includes a food drive, making sandwiches for delivery to the homeless, cooking dinners for Metro House and St. Luke’s Shelter, and a host of other service projects, such as assembling health kits for use in relief efforts and Bags of Grace for the homeless. Contact UMW Social Action Coordinator, Maura Porcelli.
To get involved, all you need to do is show up! Children, families, and youth are welcome. There are many tasks and activities to choose from. Leaders are also needed to organize and lead the individual projects, purchase supplies, plan refreshments, and deliver items at the end of the day.
Call To Prayer
Our annual Call to Prayer occurs during Lent and is a worship opportunity to reflect on and support the mission work that the UMW supports globally. Past Call to Prayer gatherings have benefitted retired missionaries and deaconesses, hospital construction and more.
