Helping Feed Those in Need -- Campus Kitchen DC

Campus Kitchen DC is the food ministry of National United Methodist Church. The program is a unique combination of food recovery efforts, meal preparation, and food delivery that reaches nearly 8,000 people every month.

Campus Kitchen partners with businesses such as Mom's Organic Market, Norman's Farm Market, Levain's Bakery, and Food Rescue US to recover excess food. This food, such as non perishables, fresh produce, or frozen meat, are re-imagined into meals for our partners, under the direction of Chef Anthony Mickens. Campus Kitchen also distributes 200 grocery bags every month.

Food is distributed to several United Methodist Churches in Washington DC as well as other churches and social service organizations throughout the area. Our church partners include: in DC, Hughes Memorial UMC, Community UMC, Petworth UMC, Mt. Vernon UMC, Douglass Memorial UMC, and in Kensington, St. Paul's UMC. Other church partners are the Water Ministry at St. Columba's Episcopal Church, St. Paul's Lutheran's food pantry, and Impact Fellowship. Our food ministry also helps those in need served by The Salvation Army's Grate Patrol, Mission of Love in District Heights, Md., the TraRon Center serving children traumatized by gun violence, and Project Transformation DC, a summer reading camp that helps DC elementary school students retain their reading skills during the summer.

Campus Kitchen also supports the congregation and community of National UMC by supplying goods for two internal food pantries located at the Metropolitan and the Wesley locations. In addition, every month, Campus Kitchen provides a community meal for American University students and members of the congregation interested in connecting with college students. The next two Community Meal dates this year are November 13 and December 11.

Campus Kitchen is funded solely through our church budget and contributions from you. Please use the link below and give generously so that others may eat.
