Tiya!
Tiya Adé has been a fixture on DC's music scene for decades, wowing audiences with her rich voice and electric performances. Known professionally as Tiya!, she has mastered a variety of musical styles. She has sung with illustrious bands and musicians throughout her career both across the US and abroad. In 2010, she co-created Jazz at Wesley and is currently its producer.
Vocalist, arranger, and songwriter, Tiya! has appeared with such luminaries as Cecily Tyson, Ruby Dee, Odetta, Pete Seeger, Nelson and Winnie Mandela, and Roberta Flack.
A native Washingtonian, Tiya! is a lead vocalist with DC’s renowned band leader, Bobby Felder, and his various bands and orchestras. Until its closing in 2015, she was the resident vocalist at the historic Channel Inn Hotel — the famous watering hole for the District’s political and business elite. For over 16 years, Tiya! performed at this legendary venue.
She also sings, writes, and produces with “In Process…” — an African American women’s a cappella ensemble, performing songs of consciousness and awareness.
Tiya! is proud to bring the best DMV artists to Jazz at Wesley. She believes that music can inspire, bring joy, and build community.
